I held my stub, a deed of good, as invite to The Feast,
Made confident by Scripture that soon His words would be:
“Inasmuch as ye have done it unto the least
of these My brethren, ye have done it unto Me.”

Yet these words applied to sin, like yeast,
Gave rise to trepidation when taken verbatim:
Inasmuch as I have done it unto the least
of these His brethren, I have done it unto Him?

But for, “Hear ye him, in whom I am well pleased;
That none a work, but Love will set you free.”
Then came, as I prayed to have my faith increased,
An answer to, Father, willst Thou give Thy Love to me?

“Inasmuch as I have done it unto the least
of these My brethren, I shall do it unto thee.”
